Scottie Scheffler clinches $23 million bonus with FedEx St. Jude Championship win

Following a dominant victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scottie Scheffler has locked up a $23 million bonus for his season-long performance.

A Commanding Lead Secured

Scottie Scheffler’s impressive eight-shot victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship has solidified his standing atop the FedExCup points race. Having entered the event at TPC Southwind as the clear No. 1, Scheffler’s performance in the first FedExCup Playoffs tournament ensured he will maintain that top position through the upcoming BMW Championship. This victory guarantees that Scheffler will take home an additional $23 million in bonus money, rewarding his consistent performance throughout the season as he heads into the TOUR Championship.

Evolution of the Bonus Structure

The financial landscape of the FedExCup Playoffs underwent significant changes in 2025. The PGA TOUR moved to eliminate the Starting Strokes format previously used at the TOUR Championship. This structural adjustment means that all 30 players who qualify for the postseason finale will now start on even footing. To account for the increased volatility this brings to the final event, the distribution of bonus money has been recalibrated, with nearly $100 million being allocated based on the FedExCup standings following the competition at Bellerive Country Club.

Payouts and Future Stakes

While Scottie Scheffler has secured the top spot in the standings heading into Atlanta, the race for the remaining bonus positions remains intense. Players finishing behind him in the FedExCup points standings after the BMW Championship will receive substantial rewards. The second-place finisher will earn $13 million in bonus money, followed by $8 million for third, $6.5 million for fourth, and $5.4 million for fifth. Even the 30th and final qualifier for the TOUR Championship is set to earn a $460,000 bonus.

These bonus payouts are distinct from the purse available during the TOUR Championship itself. The 30-man field competing in the finale will play for a $40 million purse, with the top finisher in that tournament earning an additional $10 million in addition to claiming the FedExCup.

A Comprehensive Bonus System

The PGA TOUR’s bonus structure extends well beyond the top few players. The payout system covers players through the 125th position in the season-long points race, providing financial recognition for a wide range of performances throughout the year. As players prepare for the upcoming stages of the playoffs, the financial incentives remain a central focus for those competing to climb the standings.
